TRAVEL DETAILS
WEATHER:
September is the best time to visit Banff National Park if you want to see the famous golden larches, the local trees that turn bright yellow. Enjoy world-class hiking with fewer people on the trails. Creatures like deer, elk, mountain goats and bighorn sheep often come out more when the tourists have gone. September is still warm with average highs of 63°F but you will want a coat for exploring the town in the evening.
AIRPORT ARRIVALS AND TRANSFERS:
We will be flying into Calgary and transferring to Banff, Canada. The drive will be around 1.5 hours. Transportation will be covered if you are arriving/departing on the group dates. If you are arriving early or departing late we will arrange transfers for you but it will be at an additional cost.
pASSPORT:
Passports are required for U.S. Citizens to enter Canada. Passport must be valid at time of entry and have at least one blank page.
DESTINATION HIGHLIGHTS
banff, Canada
Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885 as Rocky Mountains Park. Located in Alberta's Rocky Mountains, 110–180 kilometres (68–112 mi) west of Calgary, Banff encompasses 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 sq mi) of mountainous terrain, with many glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. Provincial forests and Yoho National Park are neighbours to the west, while Kootenay National Park is located to the south and Kananaskis Country to the southeast. The main commercial centre of the park is the town of Banff, in the Bow River valley.
